CAMBRIDGE – A Cambridge teen has been arrested and charged with offenses including armed robbery and assault.
On Oct. 3, at approximately 1:40 a.m., Cambridge Police Department (CPD) officers responded to the 400 block of Caribbean Avenue in reference to an armed robbery. They contacted the victim, who reported that a friend picked him up at a fuel station located at the corner of Race and Washington streets, after which they went to the victim’s residence.
The victim said that after a short time, the suspect left the home. As they were walking outside, another male came from the side of the building, approaching the victim and knocking him to the ground.
The victim reported that the suspect pulled out a handgun, pointed at the victim threatening to shoot him, as the suspect started going through the victim’s pockets, taking his wallet and vehicle keys.
The victim then saw the friend he had met and the other male subject get into the vehicle and leave the area. Through investigation, it was determined that the suspect who had the gun was a 17-year-old juvenile from Cambridge.
Officers checked known locations for the juvenile, and located the stolen vehicle on Maryland Avenue. At approximately 8:15 a.m., CPD detectives observed the juvenile exit from a residence on Henry Street.
Detectives and officers approached the 17-year-old who resisted arrest, a statement from the CPD said. The 17-year-old was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to CPD for processing.
During a search of the residence, detectives located clothing that the 17-year-old was described as having worn, the keys to the stolen vehicle and a BB gun that resembled a real handgun. The 17-year-old juvenile was charged as an adult and had an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
He was later turned over to the Dorchester County Detention Center. The subject was charged with the following:
