Superintendent’s Holiday Card Competition

CAMBRIDGE — It was Christmas in January as the Dorchester County Board of Education recognized the finalists in the 2017 competition to design the Superintendent of Schools’ holiday card at its monthly meeting.

One finalist was chosen from each grade throughout Dorchester County Public Schools, with special recognition in age groupings, and an overall winner whose design was used on cards sent by Superintendent Dr. Diana Mitchell over the holiday season. The winning designer was Shayla Collins from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School.

Grade finalists were: Marcus San Juan, Kindergarten, Maple Elementary; Travis Burton, 1st grade, Hurlock Elementary; Vincent Jackson, 2nd grade, Choptank Elementary; Shelby Seese, 3rd grade (tie), Vienna Elementary; Journey Pearson, 3rd grade (tie), Warwick Elementary; Alison Gonzalez, 4th grade, Sandy Hill Elementary; Lainey Jones, 5th grade (tie), South Dorchester School; Anna Colquhoun, 5th grade (tie), South Dorchester School; Drew Tolley, 6th grade, South Dorchester School; 7th grade, Gizelle San, Mace’s Lane Middle School; 8th grade, Haley Howerton, North Dorchester Middle School; Katie Fellon, 9th grade, North Dorchester High School; Cassidy Shockley, 10th grade, Cambridge-South Dorchester High School; 11th grade, Rachel Dashiell, North Dorchester High School, and the overall winner Shayla Collins from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School.
