September council meetings at Empowerment Center

Posted

CAMBRIDGE – The City Council will hold its September meetings in a new location.

Exterior restoration of the City Council Chambers entrance and windows began after Labor Day. This renovation work will limit access to the main entrance and will cause some construction debris inside the chambers.

For the convenience of the public, the City is moving its evening meetings in September to the Empowerment Center at 615 Pine St. for most of this month.

The first public meeting moved to the Empowerment Center this month is Monday’s City Council meeting at 6 p.m. On-site parking is very limited, though nearby street parking is plentiful. Those wishing to attend may want to come a little early to ensure they can park and walk to the Empowerment Center.

This meeting, like all Council meetings, will also be televised on Town Hall Streams.

The agenda and council packet for Monday’s meeting can be viewed at: choosecambridge.com/.../Agenda/_09112023-1242.

“I so appreciate the Empowerment Center’s warm welcome as they allow us to conduct the City’s business in the heart of Pine Street this month,” City Manager Tom Carroll said in a prepared statement. The Cambridge Empowerment Center opened in 2003 and is located on a portion of the site of the former Pine Street School. The Empowerment Center serves the social and recreational needs of the entire Cambridge community.

As the month progresses, City evening meeting locations may change due to the progress of construction or conflicts at the Empowerment Center. To check on meeting locations by visiting the City’s website.
