CAMBRIDGE — Sandy Hill Elementary School students rang in the season with the annual concert for family and friends, held in the auditorium at Cambridge-South Dorchester High School. The students were directed by Music Education Specialist Virginia Sears.

Hundreds were in the audience for the event, which featured the fourth- and fifth-grade chorus singing “Let’s Make it Shine,” “Christmas Comes From the Heart” with solos performed by Jahkai Hall, Katelyn Masden and Karmen Dawson, and “Here Comes the Snow.”

Children in the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten showcase sang, “Let’s Build a Gingerbread House” and “Winter Wiggles,” with some spirited wiggling from some excited little boys and girls.

There was a band karate presentation from first-year students playing, “Buzzing Bees,” “Hot Cross Buns,” and “Jingle Bells.” Second-year musicians played “Buzzin’ Bees Again,” “Lightly Row,” and “Up on the Housetop.”

The evening was capped off by the first, second and third graders presenting “The Share Bears,” musical theater comprising songs and spoken parts. The cast was composed of narrators Austin Shorter, MarKayla Wood and NyAirra Matthews.

Bailey was played by Alex Wormuth. The Bears were Khamaya Carty, Hannah Alexander, Katheryne Kelsey, Christina Hyde, Aliza Adams, Darnell Mathews, Brianna Montgomery, Toby Oakes and Charley Pliescott. Little Bear was played by Keagan Reed and the Magical Winter Wind was portrayed by Janija Howard.
