Andrew West, who is executive editor of the Delaware State News, teamed up with members of the "Sand Bears" sand-carving team for this sculpture at the Lewes Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Delaware Feb. 5. The other Sand Bears are Darrell O'Connor, Marc Schaffer, Heather Williams, Lynn Williams, Adam Basalyga, Pete Faverio and Andrew Lawerence. The angel bear in the front is in honor of Lenny Williams, the youngest member of the Sand Bears, who died in October.
