CAMBRIDGE – Registration is open for the spring session of classes at DCA. Offerings include:

  • Stained Glass for Beginners and Intermediates with Jan Boettger. Students will have the opportunity to learn techniques for creating a stained-glass panel. Instruction includes design, cutting, foiling, and soldering. Stress-free, excellent instruction with beautiful results. Tuesdays, 6-8 p.m., April 9-June 11.
  • Intermediate Watercolors with Barb Zuehlke. Students will practice learning different triad palette combinations and pulling and glazing watercolors using personal photographs and still life as inspiration. Use of gouache and egg tempera is acceptable. Painting experience is necessary. Students work at their own pace with critique and suggestions. Demonstrations and assistance will be provided by the instructor. Wednesdays, 1-3:30 p.m., April 10-May 15.
  • Beginning Watercolors with Diana Evans. Students will learn which brush to use, the proper water to paint ratio, how to set up a palette, how to mix colors, and more. Students will experiment with several techniques and produce a finished painting. No experience is needed. A list of materials will be available upon registering for the class. Thursdays 1:30-4 p.m., April 25-May 16.
  • One-day workshop: Fine Silver Pendant with Jayne Roth. Students will learn to make and go home with a beautiful and unique reversible fine silver lentil pendant using .999 silver metal clay. Students will learn the basics of how to work with metal clay in its raw form. They will create two textured pieces with stones which will be attached, refined and ready for kiln firing. They will polish their finished silver pieces by hand and in a polisher and learn how to apply an oxidized finish to bring out the textures. Finished pieces will be completed and ready to wear. April 27, 9 a.m.-4 m.
  • Two-day workshop: How to Begin a Painting, the Landscape with José Ramirez. Before starting to paint, it is natural for the artist to contemplate the subject for a while, considering the light and shade effects, studying the contrast, analyzing forms and colors, imagining what the finished picture will look like, and this way, entering the field of interpretation, where the artist imagines and mentally changes forms, contrast and color. May 4, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and May 5, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Materials list available upon registration.
