SHILOH — Coaches and administrators at North Dorchester High School have named the Eagles’ athletes of the month for January. The awards recognize not only the students’ success in sports, but also in academics and their good citizenship.
The varsity awards were sponsored by Whitten Insurance. “We are very proud of all of you and all athletes who strive to do their best,” a statement from Whitten said. “Keep up the hard work, we are rooting for you!”
The junior varsity/underclassmen’s award was sponsored by Regal Cinemas.

Varsity boy/Basketball
Jaheim Copper – “Jaheim has been a leader both on and off the court,” Coach Rob Smith said in a statement from the school. “He is leading the team in many offensive categories and has been moved in to the point guard position with a key injury this year. His defense is outstanding and he can rebound with just about anyone in the league currently.”

Varsity girl/Cheerleading
Kayley Bradley - “Kayley is a major asset to our team,” Coach Amber Aaron wrote. “She is one of our members who is great at everything she does. We can put her in any position in a stunt, she is one of our top tumblers she is a perfectionist at cheers and an all-around amazing cheerleader.”
“She is a team player because she is one of the best back spots and loves that job but we were out a team member and she had to be a side base and she did it because that was what was best for the team. She is one of the co-captains of the team and an amazing leader,” Coach Aaron said. “She helps the team make up the competition routine, many times doing stuff after practice and coming to practice with new ideas to benefit the team. We performed at a Navy football game this year and took the place of the Navy cheerleaders at a basketball game. At both places, people in charge came to me and complemented me on how great Kayley was and how polite she was.”

JV/Underclassmen/Boy Wrestling
Austin Kimmey - Coaches Hoffman and Crain nominated Austin Kimmey for the underclassmen’s award. “He comes and works hard at every practice,” the statement from the school said. “Austin has also picked up a few wins this year and saw the podium at the Kent JV tournament.”

JV/Underclassmen/Girl Cheerleading
Cami Abbott - “Cami has faced some major challenges in her years as a cheerleader,” the statement said. “She has had health issues that have held her back, but she kept trying. She always has a smile of her face and is always willing to give the best she has. She brings a positive light to the team and she can’t wait until February when she is cleared to be a flyer again. She works hard at everything she can do and is always one of the first ones to pull the mats out to get ready for practice.”
