Maryland-Delaware Forage Conferences coming soon

The University of Maryland Extension, University of Delaware Extension and the Maryland-Delaware Forage Council once again invites forage producers, grazers, livestock owners and associated industry personnel to attend the upcoming Maryland-Delaware Forage Conferences.

Conference dates and locations for 2024 are as follows:

  •  Delmarva: Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon in Harrington, Del.
  •  Southern Maryland: Jan. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Prince Frederick
  •  Western Maryland: Jan. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in McHenry
  •  Central Maryland: Jan. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in New Midway

Topics for the Delaware conference will be soil CEC and nutrient holding, forage crop budgets, pest management updates, and fertility in orchardgrass. Topics for the Maryland conferences will include common weed-related issues in forages, triticale and festulolium as alternative forages, economics of forage production, grazing cover crops, and a pesticide update.

The conferences will again feature a couple of regional research updates on forage-related research projects happening across the state, including orchardgrass fertility and building perennial forage growth curves, as well as an overview of Maryland's Healthy Soils Funding Program.

Registration is required to attend, and CCA, Nutrient Management, and Private Pesticide Applicator Credits will be offered at each session. For additional details and registration information, visit https://go.umd.edu/forageevents
