CAMBRIDGE — “I know my girls like the 3, we practice it,” C-SD girls’ junior varsity Head Coach Andrew Bishop said.

They sure do, coach.

The Lady Vikings sank seven 3-pointers on their way to a 41-30 victory over Easton High School on Thursday.

“That’s the most points we’ve scored all season,” Coach Bishop said. “Against a 2A school.”

The long-range attack started early, with Erika Barrios-Munoz netting the Vikes’ first 3 at the 4:05 mark.

“Erika had a big game for us,” the coach said after the game. Not only she put points on the board, “She did a pretty good job of driving.”

“We fought hard,” Erika said after the game.

Next up was Jenna Ausmussen, who hit a 3 with 2:20 left in the first quarter. Coach Bishop said, “I think Jenna had a season-high 9 points, three 3s.”

Jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the first period led to heady moments at the bench. During a timeout, Coach Bishop said jokingly to his players, “6-0, let’s get a shut out - I don’t think I’ve ever said that in basketball.”

The Easton girls put their own points on the board early in the second quarter, and tied the game 6-all two minutes in. Another couple of 3-pointers and a Jahnaysha Cornish steal and lay up left the tally 19-16 at halftime.

The visitors added just 4 points during the third quarter, which ended 28-20. The Warriors closed to 32-27 with 5:07 left in the game. Two minutes later, Jahnaysha sank another 3-point shot, helping to put the game out of reach for Easton.

Co-Captain Latisha Williams said, “As long as we work hard together, we will be successful.”
