Jews to speak at Annual Poor Man’s supper

CAMBRIDGE — The Honorable Judge Melvin J. Jews will be the keynote speaker for Bethel’s Annual Poor Man’s Supper to be held on Jan. 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. at 623 Pine St.

The Honorable Judge Jews was born and raised in Cambridge son of the late Melvin L. Jews, and Audrey Jews. He is a 1978 graduate of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School. Judge Jews went onto further his education at the

University of Maryland, College Park in 1982.

After graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park he attended the University of Maryland School of Law and graduated in 1986. After law school he commenced his legal career in Baltimore, working as a Legal Aide attorney, Baltimore City prosecutor, and as a litigator for the Baltimore City government in various capacities.

After commencing his private practice, he established a law office in Cambridge, and practiced law on the Eastern Shore.

He is married to attorney Jodi Cavanaugh Jews and has four children: Melvin, Evan, Malcom and Adam. After practicing law for approximately 28 years, Judge Jews was appointed Judge to the District Court of Maryland for Dorchester County in 2014 by Governor Martin O’Malley.

The Honorable Judge Melvin Jews continues to serve as a positive role model for our youth.

Also featured will be Praise Dance by Jeanne Elliott and MLK Presentation by Yolanda Payne Parker. The menu will be oven baked chicken, green beans, redskin potatoes, black eyed peas, biscuit and tea. Adults, $10, children ages 6-10, $5 and ages 5 and under free.

The supper is sponsored by the Pastor’s Aide Ministry. The Rev. Randolph Fitchett Jr. is pastor.
