CAMBRIDGE — The Great Choptank Parish Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its organizing meeting and holiday reception Dec. 14 in Cambridge. Maryland State Society Regent Carol Larkin was on hand to install officers for the chapter.

“We are so happy to have the new Great Choptank Parish Chapter of Dorchester County in the state society” said Mrs. Larkin, and “we look forward to the work of this chapter to promote the mission of our society.”

“Congratulations to Organizing Regent Sue Brenchley, who with the officers and charter members of this group will continue to Move Forward in Service to America.” Mrs. Larkin was joined by State Chaplain Mernie Crane and State Registrar Anne Meilleur for the event.

The Great Choptank Parish Chapter is part of the Maryland State Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C. The Society is a nonprofit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children.

The chapter name was selected by the national society, and reflects the colonial history of this area, the parish being one of the two original Anglican Church parishes in Dorchester County.
