CAMBRIDGE – A Feb. 19 statement from the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) said, “Last week, several officers went to many local businesses throughout the city, including our downtown business district, to talk safety and engage with our businesses and find out what their needs are and listen to their concerns. Each of those businesses will be receiving a survey via email.”

Business owners who did not speak with officers are invited to fill out a short survey to assist the CPD. They are asked to email Chief Justin Todd at jtodd@cambridgepd.org.

“This is a big part of Community Oriented Policing,” the statement said, “and as our presence grows throughout the neighborhoods, we want to ensure the citizens that we are a part of their community.”

The initiative was received positively online. Tina Miller posted, “I am so impressed by our wonderful Cambridge PD’s efforts and ideas to make Cambridge a safer town and breaking down the barriers between police and residents. Thank you all and be safe.”
