CAMBRIDGE — The Cambridge-South Dorchester High School swim team boys and girls earned wins Jan. 13 against visiting SS. Peter & Paul High School. The teams competed at the Dorchester Family YMCA.

The C-SD girls put together a score of 93-76 against their Easton rivals, giving them a 3-3 record so far this season. The boys dominated, racking up a tally of 109-59.

“The boys are currently undefeated,” Coach Heidi Stout said after the meet. It’s not unreasonable to think they could stay that way this season — last year, the Viking boys won all their meets.

The girls’ program is coming along, as well. Coach Melanie Coleman is encouraging the girls to learn new strokes, so that they can be as versatile as the boys, many of whom can compete in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

Next year looks promising the for the ladies, as the coaches anticipate working with athletes they know from the YMCA team. “We have some girls coming in as freshmen next year” who look to be good additions to the Vikings, Coach Coleman said.
