2018 Bayside Conference wrestling championships

CAMBRIDGE - North Caroline High School squeaked passed Stephen Decatur to earn the 2018 Bayside Conference wrestling championship. The Bulldogs scored 208 points in the two-day tournament that ended on Saturday, while the Seahawks collected 206.

Jalen Teagle was the most successful Dorchester athlete of the tournament, as the North Dorchester Eagle won the 138-pound class.

North Dorchester High School placed ninth of the 15 teams, with 94 points. Cambridge-South Dorchester was eleventh, with 74.5.

Other team results were James M. Bennett, third, 163.5; Kent Island, fourth, 161; Queen Anne's, fifth, 149; Parkside, sixth, 128; Snow Hill, seventh, 121; Easton, eighth, 103.5; Colonel Richardson, tenth, 91; Mardela, twelfth, 69; Wicomico, thirteenth, 39; Kent County, fourteenth, 36.5; and St. Michaels, fifteenth, 28.

The top eight boys in each weight class are guaranteed places in the regional championships. Dorchester grapplers who earned those spots are:

106 - Dazheem Emory, Cambridge-South Dorchester, 6th; Ledger Bates, North Dorchester, 8th

126 - Joe Bates, ND, 3rd

132 - Dawson Betts, C-SD, 5th

138 - Jalen Teagle, ND, 1st

145 - Cullen Cannon, C-SD, 2nd

152- Mizell Cooper, ND, 2nd

160 - Wyatt Gibbs, ND, 8th

170 - Camren Lake, C-SD, 3rd

182 - Jayke Conner, ND, 4th

220 - Zachary Lewis, C-SD, 6th
