SELBYVILLE — Delaware’s own George Thorogood comes back to his home state June 22 when he and The Destroyers will perform at the Freeman Arts Pavilion.

The show marks his return to the area for the first time since playing the Delaware State Fair in 2018. This is Mr. Thorogood’s 51st year in the music business, having completed a 50th anniversary tour last year.

That announcement was part of the first set of performances named for the venue’s 2024 summer concert series, which also includes Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight on June 6; country singer Cole Swindell on Aug. 15; and guitar great Joe Bonamassa on July 17; and Melissa Etheridge and Indigo Girls on  Aug. 27.

The outdoor venue — a program of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, a fundraising arts nonprofit in Selbyville — will present its 17th season with a mix of dance, theatre, children’s performances and live music.

The first set of performances also includes ADA Twist, Scientist & Friends on May 31; Kashmir featuring Jean Violet — The Spirit of Led Zeppelin Live on Saturday, June 1; Eaglemania — The World’s Greatest Eagles Tribute Band on June 8; Almost Queen: A Tribute to Queen on June 21; Michael Franti & Spearhead with special guests Trevor Hall & Bombargo on June 26; 287th Army Band: “The Governor’s Own” on July 5; UB40: Red Red Wine Tour on July 7; Justin Hayward and Christopher Cross on July 10; Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles on July 12; Fitz and the Tantrums: Good Nights Tour on July 14; Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on July 15; Rumours: The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute Show on July 24; and The Greatest Love of All — A Tribute To Whitney Houston Starring Belinda Davids on Aug. 3.

Tickets for these performances go on sale to the public Thursday and Friday, Feb. 22-23, at freemanarts.org. On-sale times will vary throughout the day, interested attendees should check individual event pages for exact times.

Officials say performances will be announced continually this spring as shows are confirmed.

“We are thrilled to share the first glimpse of our 17th season, which features a variety of genres and world-class artists,”  said Patti Grimes, executive director. “We are truly grateful to the community for embracing our vision to transform lives through the arts in the Delmarva region.
