Sweet Sister’s Fault bakery already a hit in Seaford

SEAFORD — Sara Lee Thomas’ Fantasy Beauty Salon is next door to the new Sweet Sister’s Fault bakery on Cannon Street.

And, by late morning of the eatery’s opening day Friday, Ms. Thomas was already a repeat customer.

“It’s 11:36, and this is my second time in their store this morning,” she said. “It’s wonderful. It’s right next door. You just walk out of this building and walk into mine.”

She was not alone during the long-awaited opening of the bakery, as a steady flow of customers gave rave reviews of the baked goods, desserts, breads and coffees.

It’s the second location run by sisters Angie and Rous Robles, who have operated My Sister’s Fault in Milford for several years. The two were busy Friday shuttling treats from Milford to Seaford to keep display cases stocked.

“Today, because of the excitement, we couldn’t keep up, so we went to Milford,” Angie said. “I think, eventually, we can do it (all) here.”

An hour-and-a-half into its first day, Sweet Sister’s Fault’s Facebook page proclaimed, “OMG! We have served 45 customers in 45 minutes. Six years of experience in Milford definitely helped speeding the line up!”

Seaford resident Mary Dean was among those patrons.

“I heard about the other (Milford) store. Everything was delicious — everything. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, this is the place to come,” she said. “And not only that, it is beautiful. They done a beautiful display. That’s a good thing, too. I may be a frequent flyer.”

Meanwhile, employees Emmilez Vargas and Kevin Gonzalez, who will be working at both sites, were busy manning the downtown Seaford store Friday.

Their neighbor Ms. Thomas said she believes the bakery will attract many who, in turn, may visit other nearby businesses.

“They are a great addition to Seaford,” she said. “This is what we need downtown.”

A local connection made it all happen, Ms. Robles said. While she and Rous were not looking to expand beyond Milford — where they also sell sandwiches and Puerto Rican dishes — they were encouraged by Craig Aleman, another downtown property owner, to consider Seaford.

“We were not looking to open a second location, for sure. When this year started, 2024, my sister and I, … we were finally going to enjoy what we have achieved, pretty much take a vacation, … step back,” she said. “But when Craig reached out to us, we knew that was not going to happen.”

For now, Sweet Sister’s Fault will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until goods are sold-out.

Both My Sister’s Fault and Sweet Sister’s Fault can be found on Facebook.
