Delaney Steele netted nine goals as Caesar Rodney High held off St. Thomas More, 16-14, in girls’ lacrosse on Monday afternoon.

The Riders (1-1) jumped out to a 13-5 halftime lead before being outscored by the Ravens, 9-3, in the second half.

Also scoring goals for CR were Tara Daddio (3), Abigail McGowan (2), Eibhlin Steele (1) and Maegan Stewart (1). The Riders outshot St. Thomas More, 25-23.

For the Ravens (1-1), Joanna Petrosky tallied a team-high nine goals. Gillian Crawford and Jessica Simmons added two goals apiece with Sophia Stafford scoring the other.

Polytech 20, Padua 4: Jamie Trabaudo scored five goals and Maddie McKay added four to pace the Panthers.

Also leading the way for Polytech (2-0), which led 15-2 at halftime, were Allie McKay (3), Caroline Hermance (2) and Kate Richardson (2 goals, 2 assists).

Cecilia Carter, Morgan Cook, Camryn Dennis and MacKenzie Estrada all added goals with Shannon Stephan making four saves.

BOYS, Lake Forest 16, St. Elizabeth 7: The Spartans (3-1) outscored the Vikings, 8-2, in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Sussex Central 15, Glasgow 2: William Wells (2 assists) and Reese Pearson (3 assists) netted four goals apiece to lead the Golden Knights (1-1).

Devin Cave-Pearsall and John Morris (2 assists) both scored three goals for Central while Jordan Schmidt made three saves.

Girls’ soccer

Smyrna 4, St. Georges 2: Casey Bell tallied two of the Eagles’ three second-half goals as the Eagles (2-0) rallied for the win.

Nnennaya Okorie and Kendra Mounts also scored goals for Smyrna, which trailed 2-1 at halftime.

Cassidy Cook made 10 saves for Smyrna. The Eagles finished with advantages of 12-7 in shots and 4-2 in corner kicks.

Delmarva Christian 9, Christiana 1: The Royals netted seven first-half goals en route to the win.

Baseball

Delmar 10, Mardela, Md. 0: Chris Richardson pitched a six-inning two-hitter to earn the shutout for the Wildcats.

Leading 3-0, Delmar broke open the contest with five runs in the fifth inning.

Softball

Indian River 6, St. Mark’s 0: In a game played Saturday, Marley Evans pitched a no-hitter for the Indians.

Julia Bomhardt went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored to pace IR’s 11-hit attack.

College baseball

Wesley’s Morello honored: After helping the Wesley College baseball team to a 3-0 week, senior outfielder Ron Morello was named the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Morello hit .818 (9-for-11) in three games. The left fielder began the week with a 2-for-2 performance with two walks, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in a 10-9 triumph over Salisbury.

In Saturday’s doubleheader sweep against Southern Virginia, he went 7-for-9 with a double, a triple, four RBI, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.

College softball

Hens’ Kondravy takes CAA award: Delaware sophomore designated player Mariah Kondravy was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Co-Player of the Week after leading Delaware to five wins last week.

Kondravy batted .500 during the week with team-highs of nine hits, seven runs scored, three doubles and five RBI. Kondravy leads the squad with a .388 batting average while tying for the team lead with 40 hits. She currently is tied for fourth in the CAA with 10 doubles, and has added 23 RBI and three homers.

College lacrosse

CAA honors UD’s DiSimone: Delaware sophomore midfielder Dean DiSimone, who in just two weeks has moved from a backup role into one of league’s hottest scorers, was recognized Monday as the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.

DiSimone scored a game-high three goals and also dished out an assist in the Blue Hens’ 9-7 win over No. 19 Massachusetts on Saturday.

DiSimone, who scored just two goals in the first nine goals of the season, recorded his second straight hat trick after notching three goals and three assists in a 15-11 loss at Rutgers on March 26.
