Four different players scored goals as Caesar Rodney High blanked Indian River, 4-0, in boys’ soccer on Tuesday night.

The win was CR’s third straight over the Indians. The two squads have played in the last two Henlopen Conference championship game.

Chris McPoyle (1 assist), Thomas McPoyle, Caleb Hellmann and Hasan Handu all scored goals for the Riders (1-1), who outshot IR, 15-10, and held a 7-2 edge in corners. Dillon Rahe stopped nine shots.

Dover 5, Delmar 3: The Senators (1-1) netted four second-half goals to overcome a 2-1 halftime deficit.

Smyrna 3, Laurel 2: Abdul Musa made a save on a penalty kick with about 10 minutes remaining as the Eagles rallied for the win.

Grant Lloyd scored two goals while Isael Alvarez netted the game-winner in the 63rd minute for Smyrna, which trailed 2-1 at halftime.

Brighten Conway and Craig Rice scored first-half goals for the Bulldogs.

Lake Forest 4, St. Thomas More 0: Eric Berardicelli and Kurt Moyer had a goal and assist each as the Spartans (1-1) picked up their first win of the season.

Anthony Oviedo and Brody O’Brien also scored for Lake, which led 2-0 at halftime.

Cape Henlopen 6, Seaford 0: Steven Matalavage, Zachary Gelof and Drew Mulcahy all scored two goals to lead the Vikings.

Cape’s Brent Hochrein and Noah Clifton combined for four saves. The Vikings outshot Seaford 24-4.

Cory Derohn stopped 18 shots for the Blue Jays.

Sussex Tech 7, Milford 1: Joshua Artiga (1 assist), Carter Burris (1 assist) and Alberto Cruz all scored twice for the Ravens.

Goalies Anthony Hitchcock and Brian Singer combined for four saves for Sussex Tech, which finished with advantages of 15-4 in shots and 5-2 in corner kicks.

Tyler Millman had eight saves for the Buccaneers, whose goal came on a Sussex Tech own goal.

Polytech 4, Sussex Academy 0: Iosif Drane tallied two goals to pace the Panthers (2-0).

Also scoring for Polytech were Anthony Flamer (1 assist) and Marco Maddalena with Griffin Ott making a pair of saves.

Ross Moshier made nine saves for the Seahawks.

Sussex Central 7, Woodbridge 0: The Golden Knights netted five first-half goals in the victory.

Field hockey

Polytech 12, Seaford 0: Camryn Dennis and Emmalee Dellert scored three goals each for the Panthers in their Henlopen Conference victory.

Jamie Trabaudo and Madison Knight both scored twice with Taylor Johnson and Allie McKay adding Polytech’s other goals.

Yeliz Kurt had 26 saves for the Blue Jays.

Indian River 1, Sussex Tech 0: The Indians scored the game’s only goal in overtime to pick up a Henlopen Conference victory.

It was the first time IR beat the Ravens in at least seven seasons.

Woodbridge 1, Milford 0: Sara Davis’ first-half goal stood up in the Raiders’ Henlopen win.

Cape Henlopen 7, Smyrna 0: Sophomore Katie Frederick scored four goals to spark the Vikings to the victory.

Sydney Ostroski (2 assists), Tess Bernheimer (1 assist) and Lizzie Frederick each added a goal for Cape.

Cape outshot Smyrna 19-1 and held a 10-1 edge in corners. Riley Shields made three saves to earn the shutout.

Smyrna’s Elana Montejo made 13 saves.

Sussex Central 5, Laurel 0: Kailee Abbott tallied three goals as the Golden Knights blanked the Bulldogs.

Brooke Stoeckel and Naiya Smith added a goal and two assists each with Morgan stopping six shots for Central. The Knights held edges of 24-6 shots and 10-4 in corners.

The Bulldogs’ Alexandria Ullman made 19 saves.

Delmar 10, Caesar Rodney 0: Anna Webster (1 assist), Mya Kemp and Ashlyn Carr scored two goals apiece to pace the Wildcats (3-0).

Delmar also got goals from Hailey Bitters, Jordan Moore, Sasha Adams and Susie Conner. Aubrie Jones made five saves for the Wildcats, who outshot the Riders, 20-5.

CR’s Caitlin Harris had 10 saves.

Volleyball

Caesar Rodney 3, Indian River 0: The Riders evened their record at 1-1 with the 25-10, 25-16, 25-18 victory.

CR was paced by Gabrielle Lord (11 assists), Cloe Mangubat (3 kills, 3 digs) and Summer Thomas (1 kill, 7 digs).

Leading the Indians were Eliza Bomhardt (15 assists) and Kaya Ziskay (6 kills).

Polytech 3, Delmar 0: The Panthers registered a 25-18, 25-19, 25-16 victory in a Henlopen Conference match.

Polytech was led by Emily Campbell (8 kills, 6 aces, 9 digs), Kaylee Williams (7 kills, 4 digs), Kathryn Kozel (6 kills, 2 aces, 4 digs) and Morgan Teszner (21 assists).

Cape Henlopen 3, Woodbridge 0: The Vikings posted the Henlopen win by scores of 25-6, 25-12, 25-14.

Kira Vitella had 14 aces for Cape, Abigail E’Nama had five kills and seven aces while Logan Shuttleworth added eight assists.

Sussex Central 3, Seaford 0: The Golden Knights earned the victory by scores of 25-6, 25-11, 25-12.

Miranda Mears (11 aces), Alyson Tober (8 aces) and Chrishlyn Wisniewski (2 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs, 5 assists) led the way for Central.

Sussex Tech 3, Milford 1: The Ravens won the Henlopen match by scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-10, 25-18.

College soccer

WOMEN, Notre Dame, Md. 2, Wesley 1: The Wolverines (2-1-2) suffered their first loss of the season in the nonconference matchup.

Wesley outshot Notre Dame 13-5, but all five of the Gators’ shots came in the second half when they overcame a 1-0 deficit.

The Wolverines took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 52nd minute. Megan DeFalco slipped a pass to Samantha Netterman, who struck the ball past the keeper for her second goal of the season.

The goal was the first goal the Notre Dame defense had allowed this season.

American 1, Delaware State 0: The Hornets dropped to 0-4 all-time against the Eagles with the loss.

College field hockey

Hens move up to No. 14: The Delaware field hockey squad jumped four spots to No. 14 spot in the most recent Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches poll.

The Blue Hens have started the season 6-0 for the first time since 2007. Delaware is just one of three Division I squads with a perfect record. Connecticut, Syracuse and North Carolina complete the top three spots in the poll.

Also, the Hens’ Michaela Patzner was named the Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey Player of the Week, Patzner finished the weekend with 11 points on four goals and three assists in two games.

With 104 career points, Patzner tied Julie Grandell (1974-77) for fourth place on Delaware’s all-time scoring list.

Stockton 1, Wesley 0: Goalkeeper Kayla Fromal made eight saves for the Wolverines (1-5) in the loss.

The Wolverines were outshot 20-5 in the game, and put only one shot on goal while the Ospreys had on nine shots on goal.
