Caesar Rodney High outscored Sussex Central by 13 points in the second half to pull away to a 55-38 win over the Golden Knights in Henlopen Conference Northern Division girls’ basketball on Friday night.

Alissa Haith (14 points) and Alexis Reid (10) both finished in double figures for CR, which led only 23-19 at halftime. The win was the second in a row for the Riders (4-1 North, 7-3 overall).

Tatyana Jenkins had 13 points to pace the Golden Knights while Emily Truitt added 11.

Sussex Tech 37, Dover 28: Janiya Stevens scored 10 points and Mi’Cah Shelton added nine as the Ravens won the low-scoring North contest.

Sussex Tech broke open a tied game by outscoring the Senators, 21-12, in the second half.

Dover’s Kyra Moore scored a team-high 11 points as the Senators lost their third in a row.

Smyrna 55, Cape Henlopen 46: The Eagles topped the Vikings in a Henlopen North contest.

Milford 57, Laurel 40: Kala Fluitt netted 23 points to lead the Buccaneers to the Henlopen South win.

Rajene Bowe added 13 while Jameshia Baker had 11 for Milford, which led 15-5 in the first quarter.

Logan Handy also had 23 points for the Bulldogs while sinking three three-pointers.

Woodbridge 69, Seaford 40: The Raiders built a 37-22 halftime advantage in posting the Henlopen South win.

Boys’ basketball

Lake Forest 74, Indian River 71: Cameron Lewis tallied 22 points as the Spartans outlasted IR in a double-overtime Henlopen South matchup.

The contest was tied 57-57 before Lake Forest outscored the Indians, 17-14, in the OTs.

Also scoring in double figures for the Spartans were Ahmanuel White (14), Isaiah Morris (13) and Kyle Hammond (11).

For IR, DeAndre Cooper netted 27 points, going 13-for-13 from the foul line. Demetrius Jenkins had 19 points with Jamier Felton scoring 17.

Dover 76, Sussex Tech 42: Thomas Hoskins scored 18 points to lead four Senators in double figures as Dover rolled to the victory.

Also reaching double digits were Steven Justice (14), Michael Douglas (12) and Jordan Allen (12). The Senators (5-0 North, 6-3 overall) are now the only unbeaten team in the North.

Brandon Palmer had 13 points for the Ravens with Pa’Trek Dennis scoring 11.

Caesar Rodney 66, Sussex Central 37: The Riders jumped out to a 22-8 first-quarter lead before posting their second straight North win.

Milford 60, Laurel 45: The Buccaneers built a 39-24 lead after three quarters in earning the South victory.

Brion Murray had a team-high 16 points for Milford.

Jaquail Bland had 18 points for Laurel, including five three-pointers.

Woodbridge 57, Seaford 40: Cornell Corbin scored 18 points as the Raiders (7-2) won their fifth game in a row.

Khalil Holliman-Letherwood added 10 points for Woodbridge, which hit seven three-pointers in the game.

The Raiders got a team-high 14 points from Rahim Smith.

College basketball

WOMEN, Delaware 67, UNC-Wilmington 59: After playing eight of their last nine away from the Carpenter Center, the Blue Hens returned home Friday evening and responded with a much-needed win.

Delaware (1-1 CAA, 6-7 overall), which had lost five of its last six games, snapped a two-game losing streak while earning its first Colonial Athletic Association win of the season.

Junior Erika Brown led all scorers for the second straight game with 18 points in addition to three rebounds. Freshman Hannah Friend tied a season-best with 10 points to go along with six rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals in 23 minutes off the bench.

“It’s been a struggle so far this season,” said coach Tina Martin. “I’m really happy for the kids because we needed this win. I thought the group really rallied around each other tonight. The overall energy was good and we were able to pressure them defensively.

“Now we need to build on this and be ready to take on Northeastern on Sunday. We’re trying to climb our way out of the hole we built for ourselves and we’re going to do it through hustle, making shots, enthusiasm and just that stick-to-it-ness.”

Leading by only two at halftime, Delaware outscored the Seahawks, 18-10, in the third quarter to take control. The Hens went up by as many as 18 points before holding off UNCW down the stretch.
