DOVER — No trial date was scheduled for a 21-year-old Odessa man indicted on second-degree vehicular homicide and DUI counts after an April 2014 fatal crash in the Little Creek area, officials said earlier this week.

Attorneys attended a pre-trial suppression hearing in the case of Zachary R. Bowman, and the matter before hearing Judge Robert B. Young was set to continue on Monday, according to the Attorney General’s office.

Mr. Bowman continues to be held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna, officials said.

Mr. Bowman also is charged with first-degree vehicular assault (two counts), DUI alcohol, possession/consumption of alcohol and unsafe speed, court records said.

A 20-year-old Townsend man died during a crash on April 16, 2014, and three other people were injured, according to the Delaware State Police. Mr. Bowman was arrested on Aug. 14, 2014, followed by an indictment on Nov. 3.

Deputy Attorney General Kathleen Dickerson is prosecuting the case for the state and Jim Liguori is defense counsel.

According to state police at the time, Mr. Bowman allegedly was driving a 1999 Dodge Neon at a high speed southbound on Del. 9 just south of South Little Creek Road when the vehicle began sliding after entering a right curve and exited the roadway.

Police said the vehicle struck a ditch before overturning numerous times as four occupants not wearing seat belts were ejected.

One man died, police said, and three occupants were taken to hospitals in serious condition.
