MILFORD — On Thursday, the Milford Police Department announced it had received three reports of suspicious vehicles/persons recently attempting to solicit young children while they were not in the presence of an adult.

According to Milford PD the first incident occurred on Jan. 27 while a juvenile waited for the bus at a residence on Staytonville Road in Lincoln. The juvenile said that a white male possibly in his 40s with brown hair and unshaven wearing a black coat stopped in the area of the house and asked the student if they “needed a driver,” authorities said.

The juvenile reported that the suspect vehicle was a white minivan similar to a 2003 White Ford Windstar, authorities said. The same white Ford Windstar was observed by two other juveniles at bus stops nearby. That incident is being investigated by the Delaware State Police.

The second incident occurred on Jan. 30 in the Milford Commons shopping center off of U.S. 113, police said. The incident involved an older model white minivan possibly a Dodge Caravan, where a white male in his 30s attempted to solicit a juvenile out of a vehicle they were seated in alone and into his, according to authorities.

The third incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 3:40 p.m. when a juvenile was getting off of the bus in the area of Lakeview Ave and Hall Place. Police said. A tan older model Ford Windstar van operated by a white female with another white female passenger, pulled up to the juvenile and asked the child to meet them down the roadway by the old Milford Middle School, police said.

A witness reported seeing the van stop and talk to the juvenile and then drive off slowly, police said. The witness believed the van had out of state white registration, possibly Maryland, police said.

All three suspect vehicles look similar in color and body style, with the exception that the victims are reporting possible different makes and models.

Milford PD urged that parents and children to be aware while outside and report anything suspicious to any police agency where the vehicles may be spotted.
