Love is in downtown Dover's windows

DDP announces window decorating contest, makes call for next competition

The Downtown Dover Partnership recently announced the winner of its February Merchant Window Contest. Participating businesses decorated their business with the theme “Local Love.”
Volunteers from E-ZPass/Transcore judged February’s contest. They chose Creative Vision at 146 S. Governors Ave. owned by Evetta Blount-Jackson as their winner. The prize for winning was $100 from the DDP.

“I enjoy creating window displays, that I could say with lots of colors and have a theme that tells a story while viewing, that I couldn’t say with words. After all, I am ‘Creative Vision,’” Ms. Blount-Jackson said.

Creative Vision specializes in event, party planning and rentals, the place “where dreams and visions become a reality,” the owner said.

Contest judge Patricia Johnson said, “I chose this store as my first pick because it really displayed a romantic dinner date for two and they put a lot of effort into the store front to make it festive and welcoming for Valentine’s Day.”

Fellow judge Annette Johnson said that the display “warmed my spirit, and showed the most effort and creativity of the windows I viewed. I would have liked to browse if they were open.”

The next window contest will decorate downtown for the beloved Old Dover Days celebrations on May 7. For more information, enter the contest or volunteer as a judge, call 302-678-2940 or e-mail Jordan@DowntownDoverPartnership.com.
