Long Neck sewer project granted extension

Posted

GEORGETOWN — The Sussex council voted to approve a non-compensated 120 day extension to its contract to provide expanded sewer services in Long Neck.

The delay was blamed on several factors, including unforeseen utility contracts, supply chain delays and groundwater conditions.

Dewatering operations on the project began in July 2023 and weren’t completed until November, with portions of December and January taken up to restore the area after initial water storage efforts failed.
