Thirty-eight Indian River School District students qualified for the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference by placing in the top five of their events at the recent Delaware conference.

Indian River students qualify for BPA National Conference

Thirty-eight Indian River School District students qualified for the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference by placing in the top five of their events at the recent Delaware conference.

The national event will be held April 26-30 in Anaheim, California.

In addition, Indian River’s Jeffrey Bunting was named Delaware BPA Advisor of the Year for 2023.

District students who qualified, along with their results from the state competition, are as follows:

Indian River High School

  • Jordy Estrada — First place in Project Management Concepts, Business Law & Ethics and Economic Research Team; fifth place in Administrative Support Concepts and Digital Communication & Design.
  • Vicky Chan — First place in Payroll Accounting and Advanced Word Processing; second place in Financial Math & Analysis; fourth place in Digital Marketing Concepts; and fifth place in Business Meeting Management.
  • Nikki Fulmer — First place in Human Resources Management.
  • Jack Jestice — First place in Economic Research Team and fifth place in Business Law & Ethics.
  • Alex Quinn — First place in Economic Research Team and fourth place in Banking & Finance.
  • Kris Meister — First place in Economic Research Team.
  • Ashly Benavides — Second place in Economic Research Individual.
  • Hannah Rock — Second place in Computer Security.
  • Zerkyah Yarbrough — Second place in Interview Skills.
  • Olivia Turrsline — Third place in Advanced Interview Skills.
  • Samantha Teoli — Third place in Payroll Accounting.

Sussex Central High School

  • Jayden Nguyen — First place in Banking & Finance.
  • Jordan Miller — First place in Device Configuration and Troubleshooting.
  • Carmela Marzullo — First place in Fundamental Desktop Publishing.
  • Angel Martinez-Gonzalez — First place in Medical Terminology and second place in Health Administration Procedures.
  • Duncan Winger — First place in Digital Media Production.
  • Nicholas Ables — Second place in Device Configuration and Troubleshooting.
  • Ruth Gomez-Bartolon — Second place in Fundamental Desktop Publishing.
  • Jayden Barger — Third place in Device Configuration and Troubleshooting.
  • Sherly Zhu — Third place in Fundamental Desktop Publishing.
  • Kayla Belfont — Third place in Health Administration Procedures.

  • Kaitlyn Kopf — First place in Extemporaneous Speech.
  • Luke Auckland — Third place in Spreadsheet Applications and fifth place in Computer Literacy Concepts.

Georgetown Middle School

  • Mariela Ramirez Diego — First place in Graphic Design.
  • Autumn Griffith — Second place in Digital Citizenship.

Millsboro Middle School

  • Hayden Barnhouser, Christopher Hall, Jake Hollerback and Elijah Pucci — Second place in Introduction to Video Production Team.
