Hartly man arrested following altercation

Posted

DOVER - Jeremiah Sanquist, 32, of Hartly, was arrested on weapons and assault charges following an altercation at an apartment early Sunday morning, Dover Police said.

The investigation began, spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said, when officers responded to Woodmill Apartments at 1300 South Farmview Drive for a 911 disconnect. When officers arrived they observed a 33-year-old male of Dover, and Mr. Sanquist next to a vehicle in the parking lot.

The male told police that Mr. Sanquist had assaulted him inside of an apartment with a firearm and that Mr. Sanquist had discharged a firearm in his apartment earlier in the night, Cpl. Schmid said .

Police said the injuries were consistent with the male’s statement.

Mr. Sanquist was taken into custody without incident and officers located a .22 caliber revolver, .22 LR Derringer, and a .22LR/.45LC Derringer that Mr. Sanquist had placed in a nearby vehicle, police said. Officers also located damage inside of the male’s apartment caused by Mr. Sanquist during the earlier incident, police said.

Mr. Sanquist was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited (three counts), second-degree assault, and criminal mischief under $1,000. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $81,0000 cash bail.
