DOVER — Public school districts statewide held elections Tuesday and downstate voters went to the polls to elect school board members.

The following individuals were elected based on unofficial results reported by the Kent County Department of Elections:

• Capital School District — Ralph Taylor Jr. won the five-year, at-large seat by just 11 votes. Mr. Taylor received 336 votes, Sharese C. Paylor received 325, and Peter Servon, 74.

• Milford School District — Kristen Yvette Dennehy won the at-large seat with 386 votes, beating Ronald T. Evans Jr., 149 votes; Kent Delrossi, 44.

• Two seats were up for re-election in the Lake Forest School District.

Andrea Miller won the three-year seat with 421 votes, defeating Austin Auen, who received 94 votes.

Earle Dempsey won the one-year seat with 356 votes, defeating Elizabeth Brode, who received 176.

There were six races in Sussex County. The Sussex County Department of Elections posted the following unofficial results:

• Cape Henlopen School District — There were two five-year seats up for re-election.

Jason Bradley defeated Gary D. Wray for the Area “B” seat. He received 1564 votes while Mr. Wray received 679.

Roni D. Posner was elected to the at-large seat with 1330 votes. Jose M. Saez received 1206.

• Laurel School District — David Brent Nichols was elected to a five-year term with 288 votes. His opponent Kimberly R. Trivits received 168.

• Woodbridge School District — Walter P. J. Gilefski was elected to the five-year term with 138 votes, defeating Bernard W. Carr with 98 votes.

• Indian River School District — Voters elected two candidates to five-year terms on the board.

In the first district, James E. Hudson won with 160 votes, defeating James E. Fritz Jr., 146, and Miguel A. Pirez-Fabar, 30.

Voters in the fourth district elected Charles M. Birely with 410 votes, beating Gregory Michael Goldman, 180, and Judith Ladd Teoli, 94.

Polls were open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
