DOVER — The Village at Blue Hen Apartments in Dover is hoping to expand within the next few years.

There is a public hearing and review of a site development plan for a multi-family residential development consisting of 13 apartment buildings with 192 units and accessory garage structures at 605, 655 Bay Road and 400 Haslet Street.

The meeting will be held on Oct. 19 in the City Council Chambers at 7 p.m.

People will be allowed to express any concerns that they may have during the meeting.

The plan is an expansion of the existing blue hen apartment complex bringing the total number units to 354 dwelling units for the complex, said William Netta, vice president of Pettinaro Construction Co. Inc.

Mr. Netta said the The Village at Blue Hen Apartments have been up since 2012, as they decided to expand, due to its success.

“The rooms will be the same,” Mr. Netta said. “They will just be newer, but it should have the same type of layouts.

“The pricing will be updated once we get closer to a completion date of the buildings. The apartments have been very successful, so we thought we should expand it.”

The Village at Blue Hen Apartments features one, two and three bedroom apartment homes, as each apartment home features full size appliances, eat-in kitchens, fireplaces, and a private balcony and deck.

There is a clubhouse, which includes a fitness center, complimentary continental breakfast served weekdays and an outdoor pool.

In addition to the unfurnished, long-term rentals it also offers fully furnished, short-term rentals with all utilities included as well as furniture and accessories.

All furnished rates include high speed Internet, expanded cable services, local telephone and use of Club Blue Hen.

Mr. Netta said he’s hoping to begin construction next year.

“We’re expecting it be a two-year job,” Mr. Netta said.
