WILMINGTON—U.S. Sen. Tom Carper and U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester joined New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer and DNREC Sec. Shawn Garvin Jan. 13 to announce incoming assistance for statewide infrastructure needs.
The announcement was made at the Christina River Force Main, which is New Castle County’s largest wastewater facility.
Through the Water Resources Development Act of 2022, environmental infrastructure programs will be authorized in each of Delaware’s three counties. The programs will aim to repair drinking water and wastewater systems, as well as addressing stormwater management.
The Water Resources Development Act of 2022 was co-sponsored by Sen. Carper, who sits as chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. The legislation was signed into law by President Joe Biden on Dec. 23, 2022.
