DOVER — Capital School District’s Kent County Secondary Intensive Learning Center has been honored with Delaware's Sapphire Award for Excellence in School Counseling.
Now in its fourth year, this state recognition acknowledges school counseling programs that are comprehensive, data-driven, and dedicated to serving all students.
Kent County Secondary Intensive Learning Center was awarded this recognition due to the school’s ability to utilize data to improve student outcomes and employ a combination of classroom lessons, small group counseling, and individual support to help students succeed.
Andrea Woodard, a school counselor at the Kent County Secondary ILC, places a significant emphasis on guiding students toward graduation. She utilizes interventions such as classroom lessons, individual planning, and collaboration to help students plan for their futures and connect school success with achieving their personal goals.
