Travers: Dover Century Club thanks residents for food donations

Posted

The Dover Century Club would like to thank all those who supported the National Day of Service and our efforts to fill the pantry of The Salvation Army on Sept. 30. The General Federation of Women’s Clubs launched a nationwide initiative to address food insecurity in our country and local areas. The city of Dover acted. The Dover Century Club collected 2,198 pounds of food for The Salvation Army food pantry.

I would like to first thank Mayor Robin Christiansen, Councilwoman Dr. Julia Pillsbury and state Sen. Eric Buckson for their time and energy toward this worthy effort. Many thanks go to top contributors: Bally’s Dover, Polytech High School, the Dover Lions Club, the Del-One Federal Credit Union and Restaurant 55. To all the other sponsors too many to list, thank you for your contributions.

To all the volunteers that worked tirelessly for hours weighing and packing food, your efforts were so appreciated, and the job could not have been done without you. The Dover Century Club and The Salvation Army are incredibly grateful.

Jerry Travers

President, Dover Century Club
