I am a first-generation Delawarean and a third-generation American.
I grew up a Democrat. About 10 years ago, I became an independent, and today, I am a Republican. For years, I often voted based on how my family voted, without fully understanding the policies. Over time, I have voted for people from different parties.
When I first met Dr. Michael Katz, I shared briefly about my experience with homelessness and the challenges that single women without children face within Delaware’s government system. Sadly, with the cost of rent, many women need financial support from a boyfriend, a husband or parents. I also shared that I am doing well today, by the grace of God.
Though others were around us, he gave me his full attention. He answered my questions directly and gave me his business card, telling me to contact him with any questions.
Since then, I have watched how he interacts with people and listens to their concerns. In my personal experience, I have found him kind, respectful, willing to listen and wanting to take action. This is who we need for Delaware; he has my support.
