A new K-9 officer — 2-year-old Vinn, a Lab — along with his handler, have been tasked with easing the stress of roughly 2,700 people who enter an upstate justice center daily. Feedback is that folks love Vinn and that his presence helps bring down the tension sometimes found in a courthouse setting. Where else would you like to see a comfort dog deployed in your community?
- In the Milford community, a comfort dog visiting our preschools. Kindergarten. Elementary schools. Especially first week, to help new students feel safe and secure. Maybe the emergency room at the new hospital, to help with the long waits and anxiety of scared patients, even if just a few minutes. And always with the handler at all our community events, like the Bug & Bud Festival and the Milford police community day, and, most of all, visiting our veterans at their veterans home. — Denise Sloboda Deskiewicz
