Speak Up: Traffic pattern to change around Seaford schools

Posted

An emphasis on safety, along with increased room for buses, will be part of Seaford back-to-school adjustments Aug. 24. The plan, unanimously approved by City Council on Aug. 9, includes parking restrictions on School Lane and North Market Street, the parallel roads that border Seaford Middle and Seaford High schools. Central Elementary is also located near North Market. The biggest change is that staff and general parking will not be allowed on either side of School Lane, as well as a portion of the west side of Market Street, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. The east side of School Lane will be used as a staging area for buses.

  • How about we just have better adults as role models? I see adults older than myself running across the highway. Is it ignorance? Is it laziness? The state’s paying for so many pedestrian crosswalks, and I don’t really see them being effective, because people don’t have the patience to wait anymore. This is a species problem. — Sarah Smith
