The Caesar Rodney School District Board of Education approved the submission of multiple certificates of necessity Aug. 18 in an effort to expand its footprint. The group voted 3-0 to submit requests to the state Department of Education to build a second high school, to make parking improvements to Star Hill and David E. Robinson elementary schools, and to renovate Magnolia Middle School, which opened in 2022.
- I feel like CR should build a technical school to rival Polytech High School. They could also offer adult classes at night to offset rising taxes. Then, the kids who want tech school can go, and the ones who don’t stay, or it could be half-tech, half-regular classes to move more kids over. It could be a great source of revenue for the district. — Emily’s Page
- Highest paid superintendent in the state. — Stephanie Thompson
- The district already raised school taxes to save up. They need to find a way to improve education quality, as well. It has gone way downhill since COVID-19. My son is a senior, and I’m glad he is moving on from the CR schools. They’re not the same at all. — Jason L. Smucker
- Oh great, another property tax increase. May I ask, when these projects are completed and paid for, why don’t our taxes ever go down? — Nancy Retkowski Cushman
- Well, they’d better figure out how to pay for that and not take it out of our pockets once again! None of us need another outrageous tax bill increase with this economy! — Bobbie Littlefield
- Stop the building! Traffic is horrendous on U.S. 13 by Camden as it is. It’s not rocket science! — Danree Heath
- The auditorium can’t even fit a quarter of the school’s population. — Cindy Christiansen
- Here comes another tax hike! — Andrew Wester
