The agency devoted to helping Delaware stay healthy is facing an ailment of its own. Chronic staffing shortages are affecting every division of the Department of Health and Social Services, which presented testimony last week to the state’s budget-writing committee.
Maybe they shouldn’t have fired people who refused the jab! — Janine Maichle
Self-inflicted problems. — Jason Rextc
Blame Carney. — Tommy Lee
Where are all the retired CNAs or nurses? Can’t find private caregivers for nothing! — Howard Gaines III
Hmm, I don’t see any mention of shortages due to the shot mandate! I happen to know several people who left because of that. Nothing like leaving out the obvious information! And they wonder why people are starting to leave Delaware due to misleading information and ridiculous liberal “leadership.” — Diane Ivey
There have been shortages with health care workers for years, way before COVID, especially with the aging baby boomer population. Also, places like A.I. duPont Children’s Hospital have always required yearly flu vaccines. The yearly flu vaccine is made like the J&J COVID vaccine, so it made zero sense for anyone to refuse the easy, one-dose J&J COVID vaccine but get yearly flu vaccine in years past. A lot of it is also about money. People are going to work where the highest pay is, and the state is lagging behind with their pay scale. — Susan Powell Collins
