Country music acts Darius Rucker, Carly Pearce and Lady A, along with comedian Brian Regan and classic rock group Styx, were among the first set of artists announced Feb. 20 by the Freeman Arts Pavilion for its 2023 summer concert series. The outdoor venue — a program of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, a fundraising arts nonprofit in Selbyville — will present its 16th season with a mix of dance, theater, children’s performances and live music.

  • Yes, indeed! — Jim R. Taylor
  • Better lineup than the Delaware State Fair. — Eric Vance
  • Thanks for sharing! We are looking forward to a great summer. — Freeman Arts Pavilion

Response to ‘Do you know local Black history?’

The Milford Public Library and the Milford Museum presented a history of the Buffalo Soldiers, along with portions of two local movies, on Feb. 16. One, an excerpt from “The Other Side of the Tracks,” documents the early life of Delaware legend Dr. Reba Ross Hollingsworth. The other is a clip about the Milford Seven, the first African American students to graduate from Milford High School following the Brown v. Board of Education decision. What new things have you recently learned about Delaware Black history?

  • Following the Nadj N Jea Facebook page, featuring famous locals each day. — Nabeela Jeanne Black Swartz

Are you ready for racing?

NASCAR kicked off the 2023 season Feb. 19 at Daytona, which has a long and storied racing history. The organization was founded in 1947 by local mechanic Bill France, who built a 2.5-mile tri-oval circuit that held the first Daytona 500 in 1959 and, over the years, has hosted famous names such as Petty, Pearson, Foyt, Andretti, Guthrie and Earnhardt. What’s your prognostication for this year’s racing results?

  • I have always been a fan of NASCAR. Let’s go racing! — Dorcia Battin
  • You have your young guns, ages 18-28. Your experienced, ages 29-39. Then, the 40-year-olds and up, still hoping for another win and should be retiring, like Jimmie Johnson and Harvick. My opinion is that now is the time to shine for all the young guns. Go, Chase Elliott. — Denise Sloboda Deskiewicz
