Speak Up: Responses to “where would you like to fly?”

Posted

Avelo Airlines’ inaugural flight from Wilmington Airport took to the skies heading to Florida recently. The airline has set up a base of operations with 50 crewmembers operating and maintaining a Boeing 737 jet and is offering flights to the Florida cities of Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach, with low, introductory one-way fares. Have you already purchased your tickets? Where besides Florida would you like to be able to fly?

  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Nashville, Tennessee. — Susan Donova
  • Nashville; Knoxville, Tennessee; Atlanta; Wilmington, North Carolina. — Nabeela Jeanne Black Swartz
  • Denver and Cheyenne, Wyoming. — Jeffrey Eichelberger
  • Pittsburgh. — Karen Goyette Sammons
  • Charlotte, North Carolina; Nashville; Bangor, Maine. — Matthew Fisher
  • I would like to see them have a west destination, like Denver or Arizona. — Stan Sipple

What should the new ferry fleet include?

The Delaware River & Bay Authority hosted a virtual meeting Feb. 23 to discuss the Cape May-Lewes Ferry master plan and gather community and stakeholder input. A spokesman said, “The next generation of vessels must meet both our requirements and our customers’ expectations.” Do you ride the ferry? What would you like to see on the new vessels?

  • They need to get one that goes faster and reduce the cost to make it more attractive. — Matthew Fisher
  • Wi-Fi, if the current fleet doesn’t have it. USB and electric outlets for phone chargers, laptops and other electronics at every seat. Even if it costs $1 extra per person, per device for Wi-Fi. — Erik Campbell
