Officials recently announced Capital City 2030, a new master plan for Dover. Set to include amenities such as an amphitheater along Park Drive and a St. Jones riverwalk, it also proposes projects along Loockerman Street, with outdoor eating spaces. Apartments, a transit hub and a parking garage are planned for 129 S. Governors Ave. and, across the street, a grocery store and residential units, along with another parking garage. What would you like to see added to this downtown Dover vision?
- We need a bookstore here, too! — Denise Hubbell
- See 16th Street Mall in Denver. This, on a smaller scale, could easily be State Street/Governors Avenue, looking down Loockerman. Need the city leaders and building owners to do it, not just talk about it. I also feel that, with the addition of Delaware State University Downtown, they can take an active role in bolstering the area for college students, with living units and amenities. — Jeff Cerri
- Parking is and always has been the major concern for businesses along Loockerman and the surrounding areas. They’ve been talking about a parking garage downtown for as long as I can remember. — Eddie Curley
