How has COVID-19 changed your life, for better or worse?
- At first, I thought this might be a stupid question, but then, I remembered what my second grade teacher told me about “there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers.” Following her advice, therefore, I submit the following answer: COVID has changed my life for the worse. It’s been a nightmare for billions of people, and it’s killed and incapacitated millions of Americans, while encouraging many to give up the rights established for them when the country was founded. And last but not least, COVID has given us something else to fight about amongst ourselves, yet another division between camps, another reason to censure free speech, burn books and attack people for having a different view. — B Hartman
Father figures in Officer of Year’s police work in Dover
For Logan Spicer, the path to becoming an award-winning police officer was paved long ago and by a quite familiar source. In December, the Dover Police Department detective received the Robert J. Seinsoth Memorial Award as the 2021 Delaware Crime Stoppers Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, just as his father, DPD’s current deputy chief, Maj. Dave Spicer, did as a detective in 2003.
