Speak Up: Response to Christmas question

In the book, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” by Dr. Seuss, the Whos in Whoville still sing on Christmas morning, despite the Grinch’s efforts to steal the joy of the day:

“Welcome Christmas, fahoo ramus,

“Welcome Christmas, dahoo damus,

“Welcome Christmas while we stand,

“Heart to heart and hand in hand.”

Whether you celebrate or not, how are you spending Christmas Day?

  • As our first Polish tradition, we celebrate Christmas Eve. Songs. Blessings. Food. Gifts. Church at 11 p.m. Christmas Day, my grown family go to their spouses’, and my grown grandchildren go to other homes. So my husband and I relax, eat leftovers and enjoy each other and our neighbors. — Denise Sloboda Deskiewicz

Many Delaware communities will join together on New Year’s Eve to see 2023 come in, some with fireworks to mark the occasion. What are your New Year’s Eve plans? Do you plan to dance the night away or go to bed early?
