Speak Up: Response to carbon-capture commentary

Posted

“A regulatory tsunami weeded out the oldest, least efficient coal-fired power plants and coal mines, and many of the remaining power plants have decades of life left. Capturing the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from the exhaust stream at these facilities offers a potential free-market solution to reducing emissions, while preserving these valuable assets that offer fuel diversity.”

  • Good idea, except for the fact every time we tried, we failed, and it cost billions of dollars to try. And with PV power at 2 cents/kilowatt-hour, it may not make sense, especially since battery storage is now 1 cent/kilowatt-hour. Adding the cost of carbon dioxide removal for fossil plants is not economically feasible now. — gkam44

Delaware State University students juggle booster mandate, delay

Universities across the country are delaying returns to campus and mandating booster shots for students, faculty and staff, including Delaware State University. Classes will still start on time but will be held virtually for two weeks.
