Forecasters were calling for blizzard conditions through Wednesday in Western states. The massive storm is expected to continue across the U.S., and the Delaware forecast through Thursday on weather.gov ranged from a chance of snow or wintry mix to breezy with heavy rain, with a small craft advisory for the coastal area thrown in the mix, as well. Laurel captures second-straight DIAA 1A state crown

Top-seeded Laurel High finished its season undefeated, holding off No. 2 St. Elizabeth, 28-13, to capture its second-straight DIAA Class 1A state football championship Dec. 10. The Bulldogs, who finish 13-0, led 14-0 in the second quarter, beating the Vikings (11-2) in the finals for the second year in a row at Delaware Stadium.

Smyrna rolls past Dover to capture DIAA Class 3A crown

Smyrna High erupted for 52 points in rolling past Dover in the DIAA Class 3A football state championship Dec. 10. The top-seeded Eagles downed No. 6 Dover, 52-7, to win the program’s fourth state crown at Delaware Stadium. All four of those titles have come since 2015.
