Speak Up: Proposed Dover rezoning sparks community blowback

Posted

Several members of the community appeared at a Dover Planning Commission meeting on Jan. 16 to speak out against the proposed rezoning of a parcel of land at 1617 Forrest Ave. Just across the street from Dover High School, the 5-acre-plus plot is currently zoned R-10, for single-family homes. The proposal requested that the zone be changed to C-1A, or a limited commercial zone.

  • It was voted down two times now by planning and zoning, and now, there is a third attempt in February. The usual suspects are involved, so I guess this won’t go away till they get it approved. In a nutshell, they want to put a convenience store with gas pumps in the middle of a development. — Bob Hice
