The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association next month plans to discuss details for a new committee centered on transgender high school athletes. Alison May, spokeswoman for the state’s Department of Education, said Wednesday, “The DIAA board will discuss details of the committee, including size and how committee membership will be set at its January meeting.”
- Just like China, no value and respect for women! If you want to have separate teams. — Kathi Adronene
- Letting men/boys participate in women’s/girls’ sports is screwed up! We cannot compete against a person born a boy. If you want them to participate in sports, it shouldn’t be against a girl who was born a girl. Make all restrooms at school individual versus group. — Kathi Adronene
- Let parents have rights to decide, especially with weird topics. — Edna Staats
- What’s weird about trans rights and inclusion? — Kristin Bricker
- Weird, I feel the same way about bigots. Time to get rid of them. — Frank Williamson
- If we’re not going to — at the very least — acknowledge the basic differences between men and women (strength, hormones, bone mineral density, height), then we have nowhere to work from other than politics, and sadly, we’re talking about kids here. Can we at least set aside politics to respect women’s rights and/or these kids’ rights to fair competition? Trans women are men in reality. Girls’ high school sports will literally just have dudes winning all the trophies. — Aaron Layton
- There shouldn’t be any. Boys’ sports are for boys by birth, not choice. Girls’ sports are for girls by birth, not choice. We need to protect girls’ sports against trans people. It’s unfair to girls to have a male as competition. — Josh Dear
- Stop acting like you care. — Frank Williamson
- I do care. My oldest daughter graduated in June, and I have another about to go to school. If she chooses to do any sports like her sister, I want it to be fair. If trans want to play sports, then they can play for the gender they were born with. — Josh Dear
