The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association next month plans to discuss details for a new committee centered on transgender high school athletes. Alison May, spokeswoman for the state’s Department of Education, said Wednesday, “The DIAA board will discuss details of the committee, including size and how committee membership will be set at its January meeting.”
- Oh, hell no. — Mark Joseph
- Oh, hell yes. These colors don’t run — Kristin Bricker
- Any committee to protect the rights of female athletes? Or does that not fit the agenda? — Ryan Fenimore
- Stop. I was a high school athlete and would happily play with or against a trans person. You’re not protecting women by implying that trans rights somehow take away from women’s rights. In fact, I suspect you’re just pretending to care about women’s rights so that you have an excuse to complain on a post about trans rights. — Kristin Bricker
- This issue is primarily in competitive sports, when trans have a physical advantage. If this movement goes nationwide, girls will lose out on scholarships, as well as recognition. A separate league for those that don’t care about those things should be established. It really is the only fair way. Or make it a coed league. — Beth Gallagher
