Bills on riotous activity debated by Delaware Senate committee

During a Senate Judiciary Committee session last week, a package of bills aimed at cracking down on those who participate in riotous behavior sparked debate on how the General Assembly should respond during times of civil unrest. Sen. Dave Lawson, R-Marydel, sponsored four bills stemming from the unrest that occurred in the U.S. two years ago.

  • This needs to be watched closely, as in how they define riotous activity, or you could lose the right to even be heard in protesting. Government doesn’t have the right to take that away. If you are breaking laws while protesting, by all means, they should be arrested and prosecuted. — Jeff Grzeszczak
