Kent County officials took their oaths of office at a swearing-in ceremony Jan. 3. Among the group were four new electees. Commissioner Terry Pepper, the current Levy Court president, gave the opening remarks, which focused on the work ahead for the gathered county officials.
The new electees, he said, “will find, like the rest of us have found, that even though their campaigns may have been difficult, that was the easy part. Now, we must try to live up to those campaign promises we made and live up to what those who elected us expect of us. We all ran as either Democrat or Republican. Now that we have been elected, it’s time to put partisan politics behind us and work for our constituents in our county as one unit.”
