Speak Up: How do we protect the coast and inland bays?

Posted

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have signed a cost-sharing agreement for a new study. The Delaware Inland Bays and Delaware Bay Coast Coastal Storm Risk Management Study will evaluate alternatives for managing risk from coastal storms impacting the inland bays and the Delaware Bay coastline. The study’s scope will be presented at a future meeting, and comments will be solicited from the public, agencies and stakeholders. What would you like to see come from this study?

  • Stop building houses or big development at the beach. Not forever, just for a little while, to see what the impact is to the beaches and bays. — Diane Murphy
  • First, a study to correct the flooding problems in the bay-area homes. Protect the wildlife, birds, horseshoe crabs. Somehow, you have to stop the garbage and poison that spills into our bay from up-north dams. The bays are the future for all. — Denise Sloboda Deskiewicz
