Speak Up: House, Senate to reconvene for Medicare Advantage debate

Posted

Delaware’s House of Representatives and Senate will reconvene Oct. 26 to consider legislation that would provide oversight to the state’s move to a Medicare Advantage plan for its pensioners. The legislation, Senate Bill 348, would establish a State Medicare Advantage Accountability, Measurement and Reporting Subcommittee of elected officials who would be responsible for regular provision of the new plan. The group would also be tasked with releasing quarterly reports regarding the state’s compliance with its contract with Highmark Delaware, starting in April 2023.

  • Response to Delaware smells question

The state’s recent order temporarily allowing a six-month extension for properly staged poultry litter in crop fields, intended to help prevent the spread of avian influenza, has us thinking about Delaware smells. The odor from chicken houses is a familiar one to First State residents, as is the St. Jones River when the tide is out and the piney tang of native loblolly and pitch pine trees found along the coast. What scents are most familiar to you in Delaware?
