Gray enjoying local color in new job as Dover planning director
The similarities were right outside Mary Ellen Gray’s windshield during her commute to Newark every day over the last five years. The then-director of Newark’s Department of Planning and Development noted that it and Dover have similar populations. Plus, they are both college towns and face the same growth challenges, such as downtown parking issues. So her new job as the capital city’s planning director, which began July 18, turned out to be a natural fit — with far less time on the road.
